Development of Renewable Projects

The development of renewable projects in differen as IPP – independent energy producer involves multiple responsibilities and requires a series of crucial steps:

Our technology-focused business unit conducts a preliminary technical-economic feasibility study for each opportunity and site identified. The purpose of this study is to identify any critical issues relating to

  • environmental, urban planning and constraints
  • land contracting
  • possibility of connecting to the national electricity grid, including any power limitations due to the saturation of the capacity of the electricity lines to which the systems will be connected.

After successfully overcoming the technical-economic feasibility, a specialized technical and legal team manages the development phases for each specific project/plant. which includes:

  • establishing a specific SPV,
  • detailed designing of the system to define the optimal solution,
  • contracting the land and easements necessary for the construction of the plant and the connection works to the electricity grid,
  • carrying out the authorization process to obtain the necessary permits and authorizations for the construction and operation of the plant,
  • conducting systemic studies and signing contracts necessary to obtain connection to the electricity grid,
  • evaluating the construction costs of the plant and the connection works while developing the project business plan.

The project development ends when the SPV has acquired all the necessary authorizations and ownership titles for the designated areas, and the plant is ready for construction, also known as the “Ready to build status”. The remaining stages are as follows:

  • Actual construction of the plant, which includes the logistical management of materials, site preparation, construction of the foundations, installation of equipment, and assembly of the necessary components;
  • Testing and commissioning of equipment and infrastructure to ensure everything is working properly and ready for operation;
  • Start-up and operation:  Once the project is fully functional, the energy produced is integrated into the grid and distributed to consumers through existing connections and networks. During the early stages of commercial operation, plant performance is monitored following contractual requirements established with suppliers or customers.

differen can develop renewable projects according to the following methods:

Spese in conto capitale

CAPEX (Capital Expenditure)

differen holds entire ownership, assuming both the risks and rewards of the investment. This includes construction costs, operations management, maintenance and all the benefits resulting from the sale of the energy produced.

Renewable Energy Service Company

RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company)

where the owner can appoint differen to install and operate the system on his premises and promises to purchase the energy at pre-determined rates for the agreed period.
